It’ll take around 3 to 5 hours to get from Singapore to Mersing or Tanjung Gemok Jetty but it depends on the Singapore-Johor Custom traffic as well.
Step 1: Bus From Singapore To Mersing Or Tanjung Gemok Jetty
You can choose bus operators when you are travelling by bus from Singapore to Mersing Bus Terminal.
You’ll have to get down at Mersing Bus Terminal and take a short walk (around 10 to 15 minutes) to Mersing Jetty.
If your ferry departs from Tanjung Gemok, you’ll need to take a taxi from Mersing Bus Terminal which is a 30 to 40 minute drive that costs about RM60 to RM70.

There’s only one main bus operator at the moment which is KKKL Express to Mersing Jetty or Tanjung Gemok on a daily basis. Each trip takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes.

How To Book A Bus To/From Singapore To Mersing/Tanjung Gemok Jetty
There are two options to choose from: book your bus ticket online or purchase the tickets directly from the bus station counters.
You’re only required to set the date, choose the departure point that’s nearest to you as well as the total number of pax in your travel group.

It would take around 2 and a half hours to drive to Mersing Jetty, excluding the time taken going through customs). Hence, the journey could be shorter than taking the coach or bus.
The journey will be 3 hours if you are driving from Singapore to Tanjung Gemok Jetty.
If you are travelling on a flexible schedule and not during peak seasons, this would be the best option for you!

Step 2: Ferry From Mersing/Tanjung Gemok Jetty To Tioman Island
Once you arrived at Mersing, there are two options to consider:
- You may park your car at Mersing Jetty which costs around RM15 a day (Note: Bring ringgit in cash to pay for this).
- Alternatively, you can also continue driving further up for an additional 35 minutes up north where you’ll reach Tanjung Gemok Jetty.
Parking Options at Mersing Jetty
You can park your car at 4 different places around Mersing Jetty.
Mersing Jetty Carpark Options:
- Car Park A () – This guarded car park is located behind the jetty and opens in the early morning.
- Car Park B () – This car park is located in front of R & R Plaza.
- Car Park C () – This is a guarded car park located at Mersing Jetty and opens in the early morning.
- Car Park D () – A guarded car petk that’s only available for Rawa Island Customers.

Note: During public or school holidays, the car park can get packed.
Price: You’ll be required to pay RM12 – RM15 a day.
Note: The Rawa Island car park will have trees to shade your car and costs about RM18 a day.

There is only one car park option at this jetty, which is Berjaya Jetty Car Park.

4. Flight From Singapore To Tioman Island
Flights directly to Tioman Island are mostly suspended since 2014.
There are no available direct flights from Singapore to Tioman Island at the moment. Instead, there are three options to choose from:
- From Singapore to Tanjung Gemok Jetty or Mesing, ride a bus or coach.
- Drive to Tanjung Gemok Jetty or Mersing
- Engage with a private car service to cross over from Singapore to Johor Bahru. From there, continue your journey to Tanjung Gemok Jetty or Mersing.
No matter which options you choose, it will all lead to Tanjung Gemok Jetty or Mersing where you may embark the ferry to Tioman Island.
